Electric Circuits
In this unit we will take a brief look at electric circuits. We
will
focus on Ohm's law (E=IR or some people use V=IR) and the relationships
of
electromotive force (voltage), current (amperes) and resistance (ohms)
have
in both series and parallel circuits. We will consider the effect
of
the law of conservation of matter and energy as we determine the
electrical
properties of the circuit. We will expand beyond the idealized
circuits
when we consider the effects of wire resistance and internal resistance
of
batteries. We will include the everyday effects of power and
energy
in simple electric circuits.
Labs will include: Sparky the Electrician, Ohm Ohm on the Range
(parts
1-3), The Long Way Ohm and You Light Up My Life.
